Bar Chinois is not just a bar, but also... a brunch place! I love the warm interior and the lovely service of this place. When my friends and I arrived there, we got a lovely spot on the rooftop. The ambience is lovely as we can see the Kensington Street from the top. It was also very private since there is only two tables on the rooftop and we got both of the tables for ourselves.

We ordered their best-selling dish: Pork belly Baguette with camembert, caramelised onion, pickled cucumber, mint and red chilli. When it arrived, it looks similar to a Vietnamese Bánh mì. The taste however, is quite different. Bánh mì's pork belly is usually roasted, while this one is marinated with a rich flavor.

We also ordered their truffle mushroom toast. The truffle is mixed with the scrambled egg however, I felt like it needs more sauce to enrich the flavor of the toast. Maybe this is due to the enoki mushroom which is quite flavorless to begin with. I also feel like the toast is toasted for too long as it is too crispy for my liking.

My personal favorite is their Croque Monsieur with smoked ham. Their Bechamel sauce blends amazingly well with their egg yolk. It's been a while since I found a brunch menu that uses Bechamel sauce. Even though it is one of the basic sauce for breakfast... Most brunch places in Sydney uses hollandaise sauce. This is definitely a refreshing choice.  I am also a fan of their cheese as they chose gruyere cheese. Definitely the dish that I would like to order again!

Overall Bar Chinois is a wonderful place to brunch. Since Kensington Street and Spice Alley is mostly filled with lunch and dinner menu, it's nice to have a brunch addition to the Kensington Street family. I will definitely come back for more.
